Well a couple of us decided to check out the Polar Bear Swim this New Year’s day…we got up early and grabbed some brekkie at Siegel’s Bagels:

Then we loaded up the OC6 and went out for a paddle first:

Then we went back to English Bay at 1pm to get ready to watch…there weren’t a lot of people this year:

Then we hear over the radio that the Polar Bear swim starts at 2:30! Oops…oh well, maybe next year somebody should actually check the time instead of listening to Ben Jen was particularly happy about the day:

Mo was happy too because she was so layered and warm…too bad none of her clothes were waterproof:

Well, it’s been awhile since we last updated so before this page becomes the Swordfish cob-website, as Ben used to call our old one, here’s what’s been going on.

Swordfish OC has been going on strong. Some notable moments was the Saturday when paddled out to Jericho in a rain storm. That was awesome fun but Andrew was following in an OC1 and I kept looking back because I wanted to see if he’d get swamped. Then there was the day where Ben was gone and Andrew and I were steering…somehow we kept colliding in the open waters. Must’ve confused ourselves with being in Richmond or something

Oh yah…this also happened:

Congrats Darren and Jaime! I got to drive a GMC Yukon, a big monster of an SUV! Made me want to run over all the little people before me…lol. Anyways, I think I also spotted the next happy couple from Swordfish as well:

Best wishes to the happy couple! Oh and after taking a week off because of the snow, the OC is back on. Last night we got smoked by 5 FCRCC men lol…oh well, the humiliation never stops on Swordfish
