Practice tonight was short and sweet. After watching DaCoach do a Time Trial with an exceptionally explosive powerful start (doing probably 50 strokes per minute *rolls eyes*), we went out on Barney for a full race piece. There were about 4 other boats that participated with us.
Right as we were finishing our full strokes on the start, we were already about a full boat length ahead of some of the other boats. During our ups, we extended the distance even more. Unfortunately, with Barney the pig of a boat, we lost a lot of speed after we transitioned to our regular strokes. The finish felt alright, but I think we were already tired after dragging the sluggish boat through the middle piece. Mo had to tack on a power 15 after the finish because the boat just didn’t glide at all. Despite being in a slug of a boat, we finished the race so far ahead of most boats that I had to squint to see them in the distance.
We practiced our finish a few times, and then did another two half-race pieces before DaCoach called the end of practice. All in all, it was a pretty efficient use of our time. With everyone giving it their best, Swordfish will definitely makes its mark at Kelowna!

Whee! Juky’s first post! And it was so tiring last night! Those new strokes are a real killer. Hope it’ll pay off for us in Kelowna. I’m really excited about the crew we’re taking up, we should finish our season strong and in style
