OC coming to an end…

With our dragonboat season coming up soon (Feb 10th!), our OC season is coming to an end. Our last Saturday OC session is this weekend but we’ll continue having Wednesday night OC until the end of February.

If you’re unfamiliar with OC, here’s how the ama (the pontoon on the side) is supposed to look on the water:

Notice how it rests comfortably on top of the water? It’s not supposed to look like this!

I was wondering why it was getting harder and harder to pull the boat, turns out the plug came loose. I felt like I was pulling the boat through concrete. The weather was great on Saturday though. Here’s a picture of Caroline demonstrating how to keep an OC6 safe by being laid back and a picture with Mark in it, one of the last times this season he’ll be doing any real paddling.

Happy New Year!

Well a couple of us decided to check out the Polar Bear Swim this New Year’s day…we got up early and grabbed some brekkie at Siegel’s Bagels:

Then we loaded up the OC6 and went out for a paddle first:

Then we went back to English Bay at 1pm to get ready to watch…there weren’t a lot of people this year:

Then we hear over the radio that the Polar Bear swim starts at 2:30! Oops…oh well, maybe next year somebody should actually check the time instead of listening to Ben ;) Jen was particularly happy about the day:

Mo was happy too because she was so layered and warm…too bad none of her clothes were waterproof:
